All Tricked Out For Getting Some Treats

The Dread Pirate Andrew and his class

When it was in the 30's and "snowing" earlier this week, I was a little worried about what the weather would be like for the Big Night. But today was truly the perfect fall day. It was sunny and clear, in the mid-60's, and it was Friday. So instead of pizza-and-movie-night, it was pizza-and-trick-or-treat night. As per tradition, the dads took the kids around the neighborhood and the moms stayed home to pass out candy and enjoy some quiet. The gang made it longer than we thought they would, bringing back bags full of candy. As soon as we got home, all candy was dumped on the floor, sorted, and traded. The negotiations were intense, and sometimes confusing (a jawbreaker for a Reese's Cup?) but everyone seemed happy with the end results. Then came the gut-wrenching decision of which piece of candy to eat tonight.
Now, the teeth are brushed, the costumes are in the laundry, the candy bags are stashed on top of the fridge. Time to see if we can get these jacked-up kids settled into bed. Wish us luck.

The Johnson sponsored a street party from 3-5. Then we had 76 trick-or-treaters. Turned out the lights at 7:30.

Great costumes, kids! Wish we'd been with you guys!
