Oh, Say Can You Sing

Friday Night Fever was in full force this week as the Parkside choir was asked to sing the National Anthem at the Westlake football game. The weather all week was pretty cold and rainy, so we were a little doubtful that it would be a pleasant experience. But lo and behold, the skies cleared and the temperature rose and the excitement grew as the high school stadium geared up for an influx of 5th and 6th graders.

The field was still a swamp, though, so the kids had to sing from the stands. Not conducive to video taping. And both high school marching bands were blaring the music from the track in front of us. Not conducive to hearing the kids. Still, the girls have joined the ranks of such stars as Whitney Houston, Jon Secada (my personal favorite from the Indians - Marlins World Series in 1997), and various American Idol contestants. Not many of us can put that on our resume.
