We had a miracle happen in our house Saturday. We had laid out chore cards the night before and told the kids they had to get everything done before they watched any TV Saturday morning. We've said this before, with disastrous results. But on this particular Saturday morning, the stars must have all been aligned.
Glenn and I rolled ourselves out of bed around 8:30. As we headed downstairs, there was a cheerfully excited Brooke, ready to tell us that not only were her chores done, but that she and Leah had started helping the other two with their chores. There had been no yelling, no fighting, no stomping, no door slamming (yes, this has been known to happen on many a Saturday morning). We kind of didn't know what to do. As we picked our jaws up off the floor, we lavishly praised the children for their hard work and willing attitudes.
Later on that morning I suggested that we do something fun as a family as a little reward for the morning's efforts. Nothing much playing at the movies right now, and it was such a beautiful day that we decided to go mini golfing. The kids loved it, and we just had to try to ignore the back up we caused on the course. There are a lot of us Franklins, and when most of your group has to take a score of six, it doesn't make for a quick round of golfing. We had a couple hole-in-ones, including one by Brooke on the last hole, which won her a free game! So it looks like we are going to have to head back sometime within the next 30 days. If we have another morning of chores like we did this week, I will gladly return to the greens.

Disclaimer: I did have to tell the kids that we could not do this EVERY Saturday, and that we do chores nicely because it is the right thing to do, not because we get a big reward. Because there were some pretty serious plans being made....

What fun! Can you get those stars to align in our neighborhood?! :0)
I am so proud of the "Fab Franklin Four" right now! There are tears in these wrinkly eyes! Grandma always prays for peace and harmony in your home. Isn't it a grand feeling?!?! Keep it going......
*note to Brooke - Great maturity and cooperation. I can tell you're almost 8 -- and we know what that means........
